Paulette Marshall Chaffee pleads not guilty in campaign sign theft case

From today’s Orange County Register:

Former Fullerton council candidate Paulette Marshall-Chaffee pleaded not guilty Tuesday, Dec. 18, to two misdemeanor counts of petty theft.

Marshall-Chaffee, who is also the wife of supervisor-elect and former Fullerton Councilman Doug Chaffee, faces allegations that she stole campaign signs prior to the recent November council elections that accused her of carpetbagging.

She suspended her campaign for the District 5 seat on Oct. 8. She ultimately finished fourth in the council race, receiving 11.5 percent of the vote. Ahmad Zahra won the seat.

  1. Barry Levinson says:

Well add lying to the list of things Paulette is guilty of. She was caught on tape not once but twice and based on that evidence and also the fact that the car in question also is the same make and model as driven by Mrs. Chaffee the evidence against her is overwhelming.

A little surprised she did not say a mea culpa and walk away with the probable slap on the wrist. But now that she has the unmitigated gaul to plead not guilty she should be found guilty and jail time should be given out to her along with a monetary fine.
