Tuesday’s balloting is coming up fast. For those of you who traditionally put off thinking about how you’re going to vote until the weekend before the election, we’ll be posting several items between now and then to help give you the information you’ll need to make wise choices.
First, if you didn’t watch the forum hosted on October 29 by the League of Women Voters of North Orange County, please do so now to get a sense of the candidates running for the three seats on our Fullerton City Council (the video is about two hours):
There are 12 candidates in the race, 10 of whom participated in the forum. The order of speaking was based on a random drawing, as follows: Joshua Ferguson, Jennifer Fitzgerald (incumbent), Larry Bennett, Joe Imbriano, Jesus Silva, Jane Rands, Charles Sargeant, Jonathan Mansoori, Bruce Whitaker (incumbent), and Susan Gapinski. Not participating were Herbert Glazier and Roberta Reid (who announced she was withdrawing from the race on October 18.)
Three of the council’s five seats are up for election this year. Two incumbents are running for re-election — Jennifer Fitzgerald and Bruce Whitaker. The third seat is open because Jan Flory is not seeking re-election. All three winners will serve four-year terms.
Special thanks to Matt Leslie for uploading this video to YouTube and posting it on his Fullerton Rag blog from which we shamelessly swiped it. These are Matt’s notes regarding this recording:
This video was recorded by City of Fullerton staff, and was downloaded from the City of Fullerton’s website. The League of Women Voters of North Orange County hosted the forum in the Community Room of the Fullerton Public Library on September 29, 2016. The LWV requested that the video not be edited for political purposes. The Rag is complying with this request by uploading the entire video, unedited. There were a few sound problems during the forum due to the failure of the candidates’ microphones.
