Editorial, Orange County Register | Though the official tax day has come and gone, it is only now that Californians may celebrate Tax Freedom Day. As described by the Tax Foundation, which makes the calculations each year, “Tax Freedom Day is the day when the nation as a whole has earned enough money to pay its total tax bill for year.” This year, the national Tax Freedom Day fell on April 21, three days later than last year, but because California’s taxes are so high, the state’s Tax Freedom Day did not come until today, April 30.
